Competitor intelligence

Leadership is measured by comparison. We track who is ahead and why, then turn it into a clear list of moves.

In short

Competitor intelligence across search and AI is the structured monitoring of what your rivals do: which queries earn them traffic, which pages deliver it, which prompts cite them inside ChatGPT and Gemini, and who links to them. The goal is not imitation but identifying quickly capturable gaps — the places they win because you are absent, not because they are better.

Keyword gaps

Terms where competitors win traffic and you are absent, ranked by volume and winnability.

Content and citation gaps

Prompts where a competitor is cited by AI engines, with the reason and the content required to overtake them.

Change alerts

Instant alerts when a competitor launches a page or jumps in rankings, so you respond before it settles.

The keyword gap: the fastest source of missing traffic

We take three to ten competitors and extract every term they rank for and you do not, then filter on three criteria: real search volume in your target market, commercial or near-commercial intent, and difficulty matched to your current authority. The output is a practical list of 20-50 terms winnable within a quarter, ranked by expected return rather than volume alone — a 300-volume commercial term is worth more than a 5,000-volume curiosity term.

The citation gap inside AI engines

Traditional SEO tools do not provide this. We run your prompt set across the engines and log who is cited in each answer, producing an explicit list: "this competitor was cited in 31 prompts you missed", with the text of each. Then we analyse why the model chose them: do they have a page dedicated to exactly that question, or are they listed in a directory the model cites? The answer determines the work required — new content or off-site presence.

  • The list of prompts each competitor won alone
  • The sources the model cited in those prompts
  • Why they were chosen: dedicated content or off-site presence
  • The counter-move required for each prompt

Deconstructing a competitor's winning pages

Each competitor usually has three to five pages driving most of their traffic. We deconstruct them: content length, structure, questions covered, structured data used, internal links pointing to them, and external links earned. The output is not a copy but a clear specification for what your counterpart page must beat: broader coverage, fresher data, local examples, and a tool or table they lack.

Monitoring links and off-site presence

We track who links to competitors but not to you, and classify the opportunities: directories you can join immediately, comparison articles you can request inclusion in, platforms that accept contributions, and sites requiring media outreach. That list is the practical basis for authority building — and the same list lifts your AI visibility, because models cite those very sources.

Change alerts: responding before positions settle

The most important competitor moves happen quietly: a new page ships, a title is rewritten, a price changes, or a term you care about jumps. We alert on each with context, because responding within a week of a competitor page launching is far easier than displacing it after six months of accumulated signals.

Frequently asked questions

How many competitors can I track?

From three competitors on the starter plan up to unlimited tracking on the enterprise plan.

How do I monitor competitor performance in AI answers?

Define a fixed prompt set representing your customers' intent, run it periodically across ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, and log who is cited and from which source. Comparing two consecutive runs shows who is gaining and who is slipping. SADARA automates the whole cycle.

How do I pick my real competitors?

Not necessarily who you consider a market rival, but whoever appears ahead of you in search results and AI answers on the questions that matter. Sometimes your visibility competitor is a blog or a directory, not a rival company.

Is competitor analysis legal and ethical?

Yes — everything analysed is public data: published pages, search results, public answers and visible links. No private data or internal accounts are involved.

What do I practically do with the findings?

They translate into three lists: new pages to create, existing pages to improve, and external placements to secure. Each item is tied to the query or prompt it targets so its impact can be measured later.
